Will CBD Make Me Test Positive in a Drug Test

One of the biggest concerns most people have when it comes to CBD is how it will impact a drug test. Individuals who are dealing with court-ordered drug testing aren’t the only ones who need to know how CBD will impact the results. There are many professions that require a clean drug test.

The simple answer is that if you’re using CBD, it won’t show up on a drug test. However, that doesn’t mean you have nothing to worry about.

Before assuming that you’ll pass the drug test with flying colors, make sure you take a look at exactly what is in your drug test. The way most drug tests are designed is that they detect THC COOH, which is the metabolite of THC. The reason straight CBD doesn’t show up on a drug test is that, at this point, drug tests aren’t designed to pick up any of the components of CBD. If drug tests get more sensitive, it’s reasonable to assume that someday there will be a test that can detect CBD usage. If you routinely use CBD, stay on top of current drug testing research so that you’ll know if a more sensitive test that can detect CBD is about to hit the market.

If you take CBD, there’s another reason why you should be concerned about an upcoming drug test. While CBD itself doesn’t result in a positive drug test, if there are trace amounts of hemp oil in the brand of CBD you use, it’s possible that you’ll get a false positive.

A perfect example of this is if you use full-spectrum CBD.

Full-spectrum CND is designed in such a way that it contains all of the compounds that are found naturally in the plant the CBD was extracted from, including some of the TBH. While there is enough TBH in some full-spectrum CBD to result in a false-positive drug test, the CBD can be legally marketed unless it contains less than 3% TBH, which is a very small amount.

Broad-spectrum is another type of CBD that retains plant compounds, but not all of the plant compounds. One of the compounds that isn’t found in broad-spectrum CBD is THC, so you won’t have to worry about a drug test while using this type of CBD.

CBD isolate is the third type of CBD. This particular type of CBD is unique in that it doesn’t retain a single plant compound, including THC. That means that no matter how much of this particular form of CBD you use, you shouldn’t generate a positive TBH test result.

If you use CBD and have a drug test in the future, there are two things you should do. First, try to find out exactly what types of components they are testing for. Second, learn if you’re using a form of CBD that could result in a positive test result.

If you are using a CBD that could have trace elements of TBH prior to the drug test, talk to the people who make decisions based on the results. Show them the type of CBD you’re using and explain why. This way, they will understand why your test results came back positive.
